One Abuser, Two Victims

When 9-year-old Beth* was sexually abused by her stepfather, she told the prosecuting attorney that someone else knew about it -- but that he couldn’t talk. She was referring to her beloved cat, Oreo.

Beth explained that Oreo would bravely lie outside her door at night and hiss whenever her attacker appeared. In trying to protect her, the loyal black and white cat also became another victim of violence; Beth’s stepfather would always brutally kick Oreo away from the door.

Beth’s revelation gave the prosecutor an idea. She decided to have Oreo examined by a veterinarian. The results were chilling. Sure enough, poor Oreo had sustained injuries consistent with being physically abused.

When the prosecutor submitted the veterinarian’s report to the jury as evidence showing a pattern of violence in the home, Beth’s allegations gained credibility. In a way, Oreo was able to testify, convincing the jury that the traumatized little girl had been telling the truth.

Beth’s stepfather was convicted and received a long prison sentence. Meanwhile, Beth and Oreo were finally able to experience what every child and animal deserves: a safe home.

My sister dropped by my office this morning and proceeded to tell me about a case in Belleville, IL (which is about two hours from where I live). Until she told me about it, I hadn't heard anything about it. So I decided to look it up. Here's an article here.

She tried to drown her baby IN THE TOILET. They found the bones of another infant she had in 2007 in her dresser drawer, and they let her KEEP CUSTODY of this baby? WTF? I mean, seriously. What. The. Fuck.

I swear, if I knew I could get by with it, I'd be a vigilante.

One of the people who spoke at the child abuse conference today was a man named John Fischer. He is a convicted pedophile, and has been on parole for the last 18 years. In the course of his life, he admitted to abusing 52 boys between the ages of 3 and 16.

One of his victims later committed suicide, another was killed in a car accident while driving drunk and high with friends.

John Fischer is supposedly "reformed."

On a LJ community that I belong to (an anti-rape one), someone posted a link to a pedophile's website, expressing her outrage on his talk of "how to have sex with a child" where it's fun and safe for all involved, even if the child is NINE years old. NINE YEARS OLD? What the fuck? I'm so pissed right now I can't see straight. I'm going to write this sick fuck an email when I calm down, and then I'm going to find out how to report his sick fucking ass to authorities.
