That I was a spy for the CIA and was good friends with Sydney Bristow.

Now let me admit something here...I've never, to my recollection, ever dreamt about Alias before. Dreams are what generally eggs me into becoming a part of a fandom. I find it odd and a bit depressing that now I dream about it as there are only what...three more episodes left? I'm not about to hop into a fandom where the show's ending. That's just not healthy for me.

I'm actually pretty happy in the Smallville fandom...you never really know when you get into a show and start writing fic how you'll be received by the other fans, but everyone's been so nice and welcoming and I feel right at home here.

That being said, there are days where I intensely miss previous fandoms I've been in: Roswell, Angel, Third Watch...and most of all right now...Joan of Arcadia.

I know it's because of the approaching date, but yesterday I sat in front of my computer and just stared blankly at the screen for hours as writer's block seized me in my current SV fic...because all I could think about was how much I miss Joan and Grace and Judith and Luke and Adam and...well, you get the idea. *sigh*

In some tiny and stupid self-centric way I feel like it's my fault that the show didn't get revived because if I had just done more with the campaign, then maybe another network would've picked it up. I know rationally that's retarded because I SO don't have that much control over the universe, but there's still that lingering feeling that I just can't get rid of.

If Smallville, God forbid, gets canceled, I'm done. No more fandom anything for me. My little fandom heart can't take it anymore.

And wound up asking if they had any Smallville books or comics. The woman helping me handed me a Smallville third season companion, paused and asked, "Hey isn't that the show that's on right before Supernatural?"

At which point I was like "Yeah!" She goes, "Isn't it about Superman?" I told her yep, when he was younger. She told me she loves Supernatural. "Aren't those two boys just precious?"

Hah, well, lady, that's one way to put it. My first inclinations would be HOT! SEXY! FINE! but precious works, too. She said Dean reminded her of "that guy off Tru Calling" at which point my mouth kinda dropped open. "I loved Tru Calling too!" And we discussed how we both loved Buffy, and Angel, and she goes "Of course, I like those weird shows. I'm an X-Phile." Hee! So I was all "Wow, I think we've loved all the same shows!" hee...and I think I talked her into joining Curves.

It was cool.

To quote Faith Yokas: Holy Mary, Mother of God.

Just when I'm about to abandon the Angel fandom entirely, they show me episodes like last week and tonight's...dear Lord. I NEVER saw that coming...I'm still in shock...I'm very glad I set up my VCR...

Holy crap. That's all I can say right now.

I was really starting to lose interest in Angel this season...until tonight. Tonight's episode blew me away and made me remember why I've been hooked on this show for so long. I won't say anymore cause I don't wanna spoil anyone. But it was good.

What I will do, however, is squeal about the previews for next week's eppie, because OH MY GOD! Drusilla is back! I never in a million years would have guessed that. I can't wait! *grins*

Sidenote: I can't stop thinking about the shippy scene from Alias the other night between Sydney and Vaughn. I have a feeling that show will eventually become an obsession.

No panic attacks today, thank God. Made it to both of my classes AND to work with no problems.

And...I worked on part two of a fic I started writing two years ago called "One Breath." It's part of an Angel/Roswell/Buffy series I was writing before I abandoned it for TW fandom, since I can generally only focus on one fandom at a time. I'm wondering if that holds true anymore. I think I'm back into it cause they've started doing Angel reruns on TNT at 4:00 and I've been watching them...good old first season. I can't wait to rewatch "To Shanshu in LA."

And I finally heard the new Sarah McLachlan song "Fallen" on the radio. I actually -shrieked- when it came on, and I said, "this is the new Sarah song!" My parents both looked at me like I'd lost it. Can't wait til Nov. 4 when it comes out.

The first fandom I ever got really into was The X-Files. But that was really mostly before my Internet days, so I don't know how well the X-Philes got along and related to one another. My guess is that all was mostly great for the first few seasons, before it got REALLY popular.

Sliders was my next show, but I'd yet to find any message boards at that point. I just read fanfic when I could find it.

Then came Roswell. Ah, Roswell. I remember the early Roswellian days like yesterday...everyone got along, enjoyed discussion, writing fanfic and reading it...then as the fandom got a little more popular, the wars began, usually over characters and couples. There were the conventional couples: Max/Liz, Maria/Michael, Alex/Isabel. Then they introduced a character named Tess. She was NOT a popular character, because she caused so many problems for Max/Liz for a long time. Then they changed her character to where she was likable for awhile, and then BAM! She was really evil the entire time. It was horrible. People were really nasty to each other because some people still liked her, and others hated her. The general idea was that if you liked Liz, you couldn't like Tess and vice versa. And it was NOT pretty. Actress/actor bashing began. Roswell, which I had at one point loved and adored, completely lost its appeal for me by the end of season two. With the exception of reading Roswell Elementary, of course. *waves at Kara and Emily*

Moved on to Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Loved Angel/Cordelia from the very first episode I watched, "Room W/A Vu." Was hooked after that. Started doing searches for A/C fanfic almost immediately, as well as began writing a series of Roswell/Angel/Buffy crossover fics that are still unfinished to this day. Loved the Angel fandom...for awhile. Didn't last long because there was a TON of hostility between the people who wanted Buffy/Angel together and those of us who liked Angel/Cordy. Once again, character and actor/actress bashing began. It was too upsetting/frustrating to deal with all of the people who ripped apart a show I LOVED so I stopped participating in fandom discussions for Angel.

That's when I found Third Watch. I'd watched it from the very beginning (it began the same year Roswell did, actually), but then I dreamt about Bosco and Faith one night during early third season, after watching "He Said/She Said" and "Childhood Memories." I was doomed, and I knew it. lol. There was a thrill about having a new fandom, an excitement. There wasn't much fanfic at that time, there were like, 50 stories at fanfiction.net and NO fan boards that I could find.

I started a free board and called it '55-David.' Way back in the beginning when there were like, 7 people besides myself who were really into discussing it. I remember being thrilled every time I logged on and saw that someone new had signed up for the board. When we got to 15, I was so excited I could hardly stand it. It was that year that I met Demelza and chatted with her for the first time ever on Christmas night, after my parents had gone to bed. We got to be good friends very quickly after finding out we had a great deal in common. I "met" Bree a few months after that.

People were so friendly in the fandom back then. When we did disagree, it was in an adult, respectful way, not childish actor/actress bashing. I truly respected everyone in the fandom that I came across because that was the first time that had happened. The fics that came out at that time were of incredible talent (mostly), and all was great.

What the -hell- happened between then and now? My guess is that there are just TOO damn many people in this fandom for everyone to be adult about discussion and ideas. I don't visit 3.net. Ever. I used to, found it comparable to visiting a board in the Angel fandom that frightened me because of how much they despised Cordelia/Charisma Carpenter, and stopped visiting it. I won't even go there for random information about guest appearances, etc. I visit two boards in the TW fandom: thirdwatch.net and 55-David. I find the people there much less--pardon me for saying--psycho.

However, I feel my love for this fandom slowly circling the drain for the same reason I abandoned Roswell and Angel fandom stuff. I still watch Angel, I still LOVE Third Watch. But as far as discussing it with mass amounts of people and debating topics, I'm losing all interest fast.

I have a theory. While I was watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I never got involved in chatting with other fans or located a message board to discuss the show with others, etc. My love for Buffy still runs strong--I watch the reruns whenever I can, have all the episodes taped, and feel no bitterness toward the show or others who watch it. I think if and when I ever switch fandoms again, I'll not look at message boards, etc. It's much less frustrating.

I'm a peacemaker. I HATE conflict. Hate it. Isn't there enough conflict in the world over things that aren't...you know, TV shows? I love this show, I love the actors/actresses who portray the characters. I'm not a big fan of a couple of the characters and have certainly been known to bash them...frequently.

But I DO know the difference between a fictional character and the person who plays that character. Just because I hate Cr*z doesn't mean I hate Tia Texada. That's freaking psychotic. Get a life.

Anyway. Now that I've rambled on for the length of a novel, I'm bowing out on this one.

I love Spike. He's hot AND hilarious. Sorry, Angel. Even before I realized he was working with you, I was rooting for him. Spike is just so very...charismatic. *sighs* I'm so glad James Marsters agreed to be on the show this season. As much as I miss Cordy, Spike being there will help ease the pain a bit.

Hey, Kara, how long have you been watching Angel?
