This is the last post I intend to make about this entire situation.

And I'm cutting it for those of you on my flist who A) Don't want to know what's going on B) Don't care what's going on C) Don't want to talk about it anymore.



So let me start out by saying that the hypocrisy in fandom will never ever cease to amaze me.

Apparently it's perfectly all right for one person to post their thoughts in their livejournal and generalize an entire group of fans as being stupid, morons, etc, etc, but if someone else does it, it's not all right.

...

Let's cut the bullshit here.

There are a great deal of nasty, vicious people in the Smallville fandom, and not only are they vicious about certain characters and pairings (I don't care about this at all myself--like who you like, dislike whoever you want--it's fiction, something people tend to forget.) But they are also nasty and hateful about other fans--anyone who does not agree with them, people who DO like characters they don't like (in this case the point of contention always seems to be Lois Lane), and even people who like the actress who plays said disliked character -- Erica Durance.

I'm sorry but when you start bashing on the actress because you don't like the character she plays or how that character's been written, you start sounding insane and overly obsessed and delusional. And if you are reading this, and hate Erica Durance because you don't like Lois Lane on Smallville, and this show is the only reason you have me friended? Well, feel free to defriend.

Sure, feel free to say whatever you'd like in your own journal, in your own place--paid for or not--that's your right. But know that when you make vicious hateful statements, people who read it will get tired of your bullshit and will eventually fire back at you.

And let's clear up another couple of things here. The post I referred to of Tobi's where she bashed all Chlollie fans--not only the pairing itself--but the fans of the pairing? I DO have screencaps of it, in fact. You know why I've chosen not to post it? Because I'm not in junior high and I'm not a two-faced bitch. I did, however, defriend her the same day that I read her nasty little post. I assumed she would get the notif in her mailbox as I do when someone defriends, and defriend me back.

She did not do this, and that is not my problem. I didn't hang around to "spy" on her because as I said before--I have a life.

Also? I didn't accuse her of misusing funds for the charity she's involved with. I simply pointed out the two-facedness of her having made posts in the past asking for Chlollie fans to donate money to it and then calling them fucking morons behind their backs. It's disgusting and pisses me off.

And yeah, maybe according to some individuals I should have named names and posted screencaps for proof, but you know what? I believe in karma. People who do bad things and talk about people behind their backs and act like two-faced little children WILL get what's coming to them eventually. I don't generally see the need to get involved in that process because then it brings MY spirits down, too. I actually don't get satisfaction in hurting other people the way some seem to.

Not too long ago, someone else I've since defriended made a statement about how if you dare to profess that you LIKE Smallville's Lois Lane, she would take you off her list of "cool" people and come to your house and kick your ass. Obviously the latter part of that was tongue in cheek, but you know what?

GROW UP.

If you've only friended me because of fandom, that's fine. But I'm not going to hold back my opinions anymore in MY journal which I paid for to keep YOU happy, either. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Fandom is a very small part of who I am. There are those of you here who've been here for a very long time--people who actually know me and care about as a whole person, not just as a person who's in fandom.

And quite frankly, those of you that defriended me over this? Weren't really my friends anyway. You rarely (if ever) commented on any real life posts I've made, so don't expect me to cry because you left. As for those who will defriend me now over what I've said here? Don't let the door hit you on the way out.



And for the record, I don't ship Chlark anymore. I haven't since season six. And I like Erica Durance. And Smallville's Lois Lane.

So. Feel free to be shocked, dismayed and defriend me if that's really all you're here for.

I've moved on and people can keep milking this all they want and make me, better yet as it seems to be the case, us to be the bad guys for all I care. I promised myself that I'd stay out of this whole debate while my friends posted things on their journal, because honestly I don't have the time or patients for drama. I watch the show and TV in general to get out of my drama filled life lol and therefore fandom drama...not my thing.

But I've made this same post on the journals of my other friends, because I know both sides are very upset and I honestly hate seeing any of my friends this hurt.

I don't know how all of this started. I don't know who said what first or who said what period other than what you have here. I have friends on both sides and thus I'm quite literally Switzerland, but I want you to know that you will always have a safe place to come to with me.

In all my time in this fandom, I've been lucky. I haven't had to deal with any hateful comments or negativity in my happy place, which is literally all of my writing and websites. And I'm so sorry that so much negativity has invaded something that's meant to be fun. Anyone who writes or comes here for the happiness it brings can understand how hard that is.

I've gone through a few ships in every show I've watched...I've changed as the characters have changed and developed different likes and dislikes. There is currently only one ship I truly follow in Smallville though I write for others, but NEVER have I ever bashed someone else's ship.(which is why I'm friends with everyone LOL :-)

It's just not something I do, because I know that everyone who's in fandom is here for their own reason's and though their happy place might not be the same as mine...it's still their own and if it does for them what it does for me how could I ever want to ruin that?

So I just wanted to come by and tell you that I love you too and I hope the drama dies down soon.

The great thing about being Switzerland though is I've been able to offer up support and an ear to all of my friends and anyone who knows me on here, knows I'm tighter than Fort Knox with other people's secrets and I would never betray anyone's trust. It's just the kind of person I am.

So as I've told my other friends if you need an ear I'm here, always. And I'm so sorry that so many people are hurt on both sides. I wish there was a way for me to make everything better between everyone because I'd gladly do it.

I'm a fan of Chloe so as long as she's not being completely fucked over I'm pretty ok with wherever her story goes. As I said on Iliana’s post, I don’t know a lot of the backstory and history here, and I’m not privy to f-locked posts. But I know you and I am on your f-list and I don’t know the other people involved, so of course I’m going to find your side of the story credible over theirs.

I don’t really do angst. Don’t read it, don’t write it, had all of it I could handle on the show this past year. Fandom is my happy place. Chronic negativity bums me out. Fan wars bum me out. Slut-shaming and internalized misogyny towards a character someone doesn’t like primarily because she’s blocking their OTP really bums me out. And if someone's opinion of me AS A PERSON is dependent on who I do or don't ship, that person needs to go outside and get some fresh air.

I just want to write fic and read it when I can and squee over my pretty pretty blondes with fellow fans and see Chloe get her happy ending, which to me is going off into the sunset hand-in-hand with Ollie to save the world and kick ass. The end. :)

And even though we don't have the same preferences, I haven't liked Lois for longer than one episode since season 7 and I can be quite vocal about my hate for the bullshit happens on Smallville so often, we still get on without any problems. I just love Chloe. I adore Chlollie. My love for Chlark is epic but as I don't like Clark all that much now, my feelings for current Chlark range wildy from the slightly positive to the maddeningly negative. I don't hate ED and I don't like Lois. The latter has more to do with fandom than the character now. Because if I'm honest, I only watch for Chloe and zone out during the rest.

I'm friendly with both sides and I'd like to stay if you'll have me.

I don't even watch Smallville. Sure I've caught some eps here and there but WOW. Reminds me of the stuff that used to go on in the X-Files fandoms which is why I left them. God forbid you were a shipper for another pair or you wanted to see Doggett and Reyes get together. (And yes I did so sue me people! Lol). I watch shows and certain people strike me as a good pair. Sometimes I don't know why it just does. (hello work crush) but no one should bash someone else for their thoughts and feelings.

And if the actors got a hold of this they would freak out. They would be ashamed that the person who was going to kick someone's ass and the other person who was all ignorant was a fan. Because that is not how fans are to act. TV is to be a positive experience. (Except when they kill a character off then we have to ban together and kick some ass).

I swear each fandom I've been in is crazier than the last. But Smallville really really takes the cake, imo. I'm glad I missed out on the drama in X-Files fandom (I didn't have internet access back then and didn't even know what "fandom" was at that point). But yeah. I hear what you're saying.

I think some people are just full of so much negativity that nothing can be positive for them and they have to drag everyone around them down at the same time.

And that's exactly why I try to stay clear of the fandom (all of them, actually). The only place I'm a regular it's the Chlollie community, and that's because people are respectful there, there's some people that sometimes go over the line with the bashing, but it's a rare event, and I understand, sometimes things get heated and people say things they don't mean.

I used to love the Smallville fandom back on the earlier seasons, but when the Chlark/Clana fights started to get too heated, and I was fighting more than having fun, I knew it was time to quit. And I promissed to never come back, but Chlollie was kind of hard to resist.

I'm part of the small group who actually likes Chloe and Lois, but I can think of one place where I can go where people like them both and not just love one and think the other one is the devil.

I don't understand why people feel the need to go crazy and offend everyone who doesn't agree with their opnions. It's fiction, it's supposed to be fun time, not a war camp. I don't like Lana and sometimes I don't like Clark, but I would never go out of my way to bash any of them.

For what I manage to find out about the fight, most of it it's because of the Chlois theory, I have never been a part of the followers of this theory and I don't care about it, never did. But that don't mean I will hate or offend someone who believe on it, it's their opinion, it's none of my business.

I think I'm one of the five people in the world who shipped Lois and Clark as soon as Erica graced the screen in the premier of season 4. I loved their vibe, but I have reasons for why I immediately shipped them:

1. I had never watched SV prior to season 4. I watched it only because Jensen Ackles joined the cast and I adored him from his Dark Angel days.

2. I never liked Lana. Ever. She was a whiny, petulant little bitch. I wanted to slap the shit out of her, and the way Clark sighed her frelling name made me want to vomit.

3. I have always been a Lois and Clark fan. I never invested in Clark with another pairing because it just wasn't going to happen.

And you're right - it's insane how people go batshit crazy over fandoms and equate an actress to a character. Erica is a solid actress, despite some of the craptastic shit she's dealt with over the course of the show. I think she's sweet and genuine and she should be proud of Clois. Everyone else can suck a waffle.
