I was very struck, when reading this, with what she had to say about working on changing male culture so that asking for help is not seen as an admission of weakness. My youngest step-son is really struggling in some of his classes because he refuses to ask clarifying questions about assignments or for help from the teacher, and it's making me pull my hair out. And it stems completely from the fact that he would rather fail than be embarrassed/admit he needs help. This type of thinking seems very deeply rooted in a lot of guys I know, and so I can very much believe that men as a group, when they become the victims of domestic violence, probably don't seek out resources that could help them, and consequently society remains ignorant of the need to fund/develop services for them.
