So what is everyone doing for Christmas?

I'm spending it on the bayou in Louisiana with my brother and his wife.

Are you looking forward to it?

Yeah I am. I haven't seen them in almost a year and even though my brother is an ass most of the time, I still miss him *grins*

Spending it with the family, like every other year. But, new house, so some slightly new traditions. Christmas decorations (apart from my desk) are going up today. WOO!

You?

Yay decorations!

That's up in the air at the moment, actually.

Same as every year. Go to the parents on Christmas eve, come back the day after Christmas. Hope to work in a high school friends dinner sometime in the next few weeks.

Eh. It is what it is. Sometimes I wish I could just spend the day by myself because it takes a lot of energy to put up with my little brother, the most obnoxious child on the planet.

Date: 2009-12-07 05:13 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xtremeroswellia.livejournal.com
Ahh. Yeah. Maybe you could take at least part of the day to yourself?

I've thought about driving to an actual city with a movie theater to see Sherlock Holmes but I doubt I'll be able to swing it.

We always go over to Dave's parents' home on Christmas eve for dinner. Otherwise I don't celebrate in any way since it's not my holiday, though I send out holiday-related cards.

I celebrate the solstice but in a low key way because I'm always dealing with seasonal depression.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas despite the situation with your grandma.

{{{hugs}}}

Seasonal depression is no fun. *hugs you too*

Nothing exciting. I don't want anything for Christmas and my parents are insisting there has to be something. I just don't feel in the holiday spirit. Usually my mom's side has all the holidays but my dad did his yearly hissy fit so now I don't know if we're holding it here.

I wish it were January.

Seriously. I'm not there either. It's been a huge struggle to do things that I normally look so forward to. If I had the money, I'd fly you out there to visit and we could just hide out.

Driving to the land of Buffalo for a week with the in-laws, driving back here and then flying home. It'll be both good and bad, I'm foreseeing...

Yup. That's all I can say. On the one hand, sunshine! 60 degree weather! Beach! On the other hand, to quote Drawn Together, it's not Christmas, it's cancer!

God, I never thought that episode with Ling-Ling would be apropos...

Eating my own face.

Hiding in my apartment until the last minute, running away after lunch?

Eating your own face? Sounds...tasty? :p

My parents have been divorced since I was five, so holidays have always one long roadtrip. Since I've been married, I have skipped the road trip by spending the Christmas Eve/Christmas day with his family. I'll probably do that, and then spend the weekend visiting both my families.

The holidays have always been busy. That's why I think I enjoy spending Christmas with his family is so relaxing. Less travel involved.

Small family dinner on Christmas eve with my parents, my brother, his wife and their two kids. And family dinner again on Christmas day with the same people, plus my grandparents, my sister, my other brother, my bro-in-law, my sis-in-law and all the kids. Sixteen people in one room filled with gifts to open, it should be fun!
That is, if my sis-in-law doesn't have her baby before then! Baby's due on mid-January but with babies, you never know!
