Holiday Wishes, 2008.

Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My Wishlist
1. A renewel for my Bosco's Rainbow Bridge Residency, which is due to expire in just a few short weeks. :( http://rainbowsbridge.com/residents/BOSCO003/Resident.htm
2. Paid LJ time. I can't afford to renew it when it runs out this year. Sigh.
3. A donation to Family X, a family that my friend Jamie and I are adopting from the domestic violence shelter where we work. http://xtremeroswellia.livejournal.com/710009.html#cutid1
4. Beads. I make jewelry. Beads of any kind. Small beads, large beads, seed beads, pony beads. Anything. Any shape and size and color.
5. Money to pay off my Visa card. I'm almost there! Even five dollars would help.
6. Books about self-care. I'm not good at taking care of myself, so books that give me ideas on how to do that are great.
7. New age stuff. Crystals, tarot cards, books, etc. Anything. I'm fascinated by all of it.
8. Anything to do with guinea pigs! I love them. I have three!
9. Mixed CDs. I love music and I'm always looking for more. Send me a CD of your favorite songs.
10. Hope. The last few weeks have been pretty difficult, for various reasons and it's getting harder to see the perpetual light at the end of the tunnel. Anything that may bring some hope back into my life, or someone else's.

That's it. Happy holidays. And if you respond, please leave me a link to YOUR wishlist as well, because I love playing Secret Santa this time of year.

Date: 2008-11-17 05:40 pm (UTC)Forgive me, I had a morbid interest in this stuff when I was younger so I've seen some of the worst along with the best. I'll see what I can't do~
