Jericho's creator, Carol Barbee, was on Shaun's radio show tonight. Honestly, I don't know who Shaun is, but apparently he talks about Jericho and has interviewed like, everyone involved with the show, which is awesome. I can't listen, cause I'm on dialup. *le sigh*
But here is what Carol said on the show, according to one of the mods...
1) keep contacting CBS paramount and Nency Tellam to tell them you want Jericho to keep going.
2) Originally Sci-Fi wasnt looking for new episodes but they are getting
A LOT OF PRESSURE!! And talks are still in the works.
The budgets are not that far off and Carol feels that they could work within the budgets available without too much trouble.
3) Also, COMCAST/Direct TV like the deal with Friday Night Lights!
4) Speaking to CBS' Movie Division about a movie also.
5) The studio (Paramount) is very motivated to see the show continue because it's an asset. CBS on the other hand is done.
6) RP asked when CBS will pull the message board, she doesn't know but will find out.
7) Cast is still on board if it continues
8) Hawkins is still alive, rest easy (question from Shelby)
9) The line about "how does it feel to make history" was for the fans!!
The podcast will be available tomorrow for those that missed it here:

For me this says a couple things. Sci-Fi IS listening. They are apparently having budget talks?? That is a really good sign.
We ALL need to stop posting at CBS (I can't do much anyway, their stupid site freezes my computer) and migrate to the Jericho Sci-Fi boards. We need to hit them with letters (I sent out three today, my friend Jamie wrote one, and my parents are sending one tomorrow), postcards and lots of positive things about Jericho. Also, be sure and tune into the reruns on Friday nights! This is important! From what I've heard, the reruns alone are pulling in about 1 million viewers (this is not Nielson ratings, btw...apparently cable has a way to track when you're watching something?? I'm not clear how that works). One million is a LOT for reruns. Imagine what NEW episodes would bring.
AND DID I MENTION THAT THE CAST WILL STILL BE ON BOARD WITH THIS SHOW IF IT CONTINUES?
*calms down*
Fight on, Rangers.
Oh. And another thing. If I have time and energy, expect a blog from me tomorrow on the reasons why this fight is MUCH different from the fight for Joan of Arcadia. Cause truly, there are a LOT.

Date: 2008-03-27 05:42 am (UTC)Especially Sci-Fi. I so wish the Stargate SG1 fans had had of rallied enough to apply pressure like this to get the show back, but hey, Jericho rocks that bit more, so I'm all for them grabbing that if they can and do!!
(I don't know if you used to watch it, but that Eddie Cibrian show, Invasion? I don't know if SciFi ever owned that, but I always wish they'd continued that....talk about a MAJOR cliffhanger ending!!!!!!!) -- Random, I realize, I'd been dying to say it for ages. *sigh*
Hey, do you have any examples of the kinds of letters we should be writing? I've never written a support letter before, and....yeah, not sure if there's certain things we shouldn't mention, things we should....like key words and all......if you could help with that, that would be SO great! Thanks hon :)
Here's one of the example letters from JNet2.
Date: 2008-03-27 01:50 pm (UTC)Hello,
My name is ________________, and I am an avid fan of the TV show Jericho.
I would like to humbly ask your organization to please pick up another season of Jericho, even though it has been cancelled twice by CBS. It is my firm belief that this show would be a great ‘fit’ for your station.
Your station has always shown an ability to think beyond conventional thinking, and Jericho has always been beyond conventional TV and conventional ratings systems. It was always a better ‘fit’ for a non-conventional station anyway, as its ratings were not on par with CBS’ standards but it still shows a very good performance for a show that has been pitted against such shows as American Idol and Dancing With the Stars. It presents the kind of ratings that would be fantastic on a non-conventional network.
Please consider picking up Jericho as a new (or continuing) series on your network. It truly deserves a chance beyond conventionalism, and would fit in very well with your programming that has traditionally always been beyond the traditional views of Television. Sci-Fi Channel has always been very visionary in their programming and paying attention to their fans. You have a guaranteed viewer in me as well as others in this highly dedicated fandom, which is looking for our show to have a third chance as it richly deserves. The fact that you already possess the rights to air the first season of the show proves that you already have vision beyond traditional television, and I am asking you to continue that tradition of thinking beyond traditional television and invest in this worthwhile program.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Your Name Here
Your City, State here

Date: 2008-03-27 11:00 am (UTC)Jon Steinberg, Matthew Federman, & for a short while Steve Scaia were in the Jeritopia Chatroom while Carol was on Shaun's show. It was awesome - and Jon tried to chat with me a little bit because I used to live where he grew up!

Date: 2008-03-27 11:24 am (UTC)I was concerned about this because the suckiest thing in the world would be to go through all of the effort to get it back only to find they didn't care anymore or had moved on to other things.
I need to purchase some postcards.
