For five years I have watched this show religiously. It's one of the few I haven't, at some point, gotten bored with and stopped watching. There were moments during fourth season I was tempted, but I didn't. Because I love Jennifer Garner, and Michael Vartan and...well, hell I love the whole damn cast.

But last night's finale?

Sucked the big one, imo. What a complete and utter letdown. Seriously.

There was absolutely NO reason to kill off Jack. I was fine with Tom's death, though it was kinda sad. I just never got attached to him. It didn't make me cry.

Loved Marshall. Loved the whole group working together again against Sloane--but I missed Weiss terribly and wish they'd have brought him back for the finale. The Francie flashback was a nice touch. The follow-through with Isabel building the tower was believable although very predictable. Saw it coming a mile away. As I did with Syd/Vaughn's son being named Jack. Knew that too. It was nice, though.

But...wtf did they have to kill off Jack?? Couldn't he have pretended to want to let Sloane help him, lay down in the pool of blood to heal and then shoved Sloane down the stairs and thrown the dynamite down after him?? Come on, you're going to tell me Jack's just going to bascially commit suicide? Puh-fucking-lease.

I'm glad Vaughn didn't kill Sark. I love Sark, I can't help it. The tie at the end was great--Syd's "Don't look at me, YOU'RE the one who let him go" to Vaughn was funny.

There was no need to have Irina be evil or die either. This is a character whom I grew to love during season 2 because while her motivations were never truly clear, she loved Syd and Jack. There was so much chemistry between Jen and Lena and they went and ruined it with the retarded revelation that IRINA HAS BEEN THE BIG BAD ALL ALONG. *eye roll*

JJ, you fucking blew this. This should have been an awesome series finale and instead it was more than a tad underwhelming and beyond believably unsatisfying. I'm seriously tempted to stop watching Lost now because I lost my faith in you. Blah. Just...blah. *gives finger*

Okay, I know we went over this last night, I agree about Jack, though, in all fairness, I figured they were going to kill someone that had been around the whole series. I do wish they'd brought back Weiss and maybe Will, but *sigh*...The tower with Isabelle was predictable as was the new baby being named Jack.

As to Jack committing suicide...I got the feeling that he wouldn't have survived the gunshot wounds long enough to make it through transport and surgery--part of why Syd didn't want to leave him, she wanted to be there till the end. You're lovely little AU only has one problem--I'm not sure Jack had enough strength left to throw anybody down a flight of stairs, at least not an uninjured, healthy person.

And as much as I liked Irina? I never trusted her the way you did. I hoped she wasn't evil, but, because of how many times she'd betrayed Syd before, despite the fact that she loved her and Jack, I just couldn't see her ending up a good guy. I don't think the revelation that Irina has been the 'big bad all along' was that retarded or even surprising. It's hinted all the way along that she was in deep, had connections to Rambaldi and all that and was very power-hungry. *shrugs* That's just me.

And look at it this way: At least they told you what happens to everybody, unlike with Joan, hmm?

Wait, we already knew Irena was the big bad, didn't we? *g* I mean, like, when she kidnapped her pregnant daughter and was okay with torturing her to get information? LOL

Irena is the freakiest most determined woman on the planet, and I don't think she's pure evil. If she were pure evil, Sydney would have been dead years ago. She loved her daughter, and even though she tried not to, it totally destroyed her edge. She's wonderfully complicated. *hugs her*

Dude, Jack would kill himself IN AN INSTANT if he thought he could save Sydney by doing it. In a heartbeat.

He ran into a nuclear reactor to save her. I mean, this man is WACKO CRAZY when it comes to his daughter, so for all of my complaints about the finale, that is totally not one that ever occured to me. *g*

At least people were upset about people dying. It wasn't Anya's amazing Buffy death. "So, uhh... love of my life died. Whatever. I'm gonna make jokes about the mall!"

*sobs*

No, no. I think I wasn't clear enough or something--I know Jack would do anything for Syd. I just don't think his death was a necessity. *sigh*

I was suitably convinced that he thought it was necessary, so that's all I really needed to know. What I was trying to express is that dying for Syd is not as "last possible option" for Jack as it would be for a normal person. He could have tried to come up with a more complicated plan, but I'm pretty sure he wanted to make sure that he took care of the danger to his daughter once and for all. Which is prefectly in character for him as far as I'm concerned... that man would shoot someone to get Syd a latte. LOL

Well I just know that when the finale was over last night I was left feeling pretty unsatisfied overall. Even seeing Syd and Vaughn living their happy life didn't give me that nice, satisfied feeling. Maybe I was hoping for something a bit more interesting with the Rambaldi stuff...I felt cheated when Sloan started to see something cool with the amulet and then told Syd she couldn't see it, blasted the ground making her fall through and than NONE of us could see it!! I wanted to see it, damnit!! And while I'm sure the orb was intended to give Irina the same eternal life that Sloan achieved, I kinda wanted to see more with that too. The show was so emersed in Rambaldi for nearly the full 5 years...I think I was hoping for more payoff than that. Though, I must admit, watching Sloan's healing/resurrection was pretty cool. :)

I wasn't AS bothered by Jack's death, I guess. I loved Jack, but I was satisfied that he went out heroically. I would have been very disappointed had he died during the scene between him and Syd...he deserved to go out better than that. And knowing that Sloan is trapped alive for all eternity feels like decent justice to me.

I think I may have been most disappointed with Irina, actually. She always seemed just on the verge of redemption to me and I would have been more satisfied with an ending of her redemption and Sloan's demise...rather than both of them going down because of their greed and ambition.

Happy Sark didn't die as well.:) Sark's the best.:) And I think the best line of all five years (just about) was in the last episode when his prison buddy shouted "the beautiful man is dying!!" haha...
