Yeah. Two in a row, guys, because I'm pissed and this needs to be brought to light. For those of you who haven't heard, there was a horrible sexual assault in Texas, which was covered by the New York Times. I'm unclear on how many men assaulted an ELEVEN year old girl. I've read eighteen and I've read twenty-eight. All the men were between 18 and 27 years old.

And if you read that Times article, they make it sound like it's HER fault.

Let's get something clear. An eleven year old CANNNOT consent to sexual activity. It does NOT matter how she was dressed, who she hung out with, etc. It is completely irrelevant.

The hospital worker was upset because of how this would affect the boys' future.

What about how this is going to affect that GIRL'S life? She was gang-raped and BLAMED for it.

I am SO tired of living in a blame-the-victim society. It's time for people to start taking some accountability for their actions. Let's place the blame where it belongs here--on the men who did the crime.

And also on the writer of the Times article. Click here to sign a petition to the paper to issue an apology to the victim, who was the only one who was actually HARMED in this entire mess.

The Smallville fandom, has, at many points in time, astonished me with its stupidity, drama and hatefulness.

And I'm ashamed to say that at times I myself participated in some of it.

You know, I may not like Clark, and I may have made a video expressing WHY I don't like him, but you know what I haven't done?

Belligerantly insulting and psycho-analyzed an entire group of fans who think differently from me WHILE PRETENDING TO BE THEIR FRIEND. (I try not to generalize any group of fans because frankly, it's dumb, especially when I don't even know them/have never talked to them). Because friends do not call friends "fucking MORON" or "fucking DUMB" or presume to tell them why they "really" like something.

Cut here for those of you who don't wish to read my angry rant. )

PS: If you want to hate on me for things I like or don't like in a freaking fandom? Fine. PLEASE defriend me immediately because you aren't worth my time anyway.

Wow. Apparently I am out of it these days...Chlarkers are being compared to the KKK? Seriously?

My sister dropped by my office this morning and proceeded to tell me about a case in Belleville, IL (which is about two hours from where I live). Until she told me about it, I hadn't heard anything about it. So I decided to look it up. Here's an article here.

There just aren't even words.

She tried to drown her baby IN THE TOILET. They found the bones of another infant she had in 2007 in her dresser drawer, and they let her KEEP CUSTODY of this baby? WTF? I mean, seriously. What. The. Fuck.

I swear, if I knew I could get by with it, I'd be a vigilante.

Because I don't support the aerial hunting of wolves, but I'm pro-choice.

*Snort*

Okay. Let me explain this.

I WORK in the social service field. Every day I see women with kids they can't take care of, kids who are neglected and abused horribly, kids who are homeless and living on the streets. Their parents make terrible choices and who gets screwed? The children.

Do you know how many kids are in the system? Probably not. Most people don't see it. They A) don't care because they don't see it B) they see it, but don't want to be bothered, or C) they care, but don't have time to do anything about it.

So instead they bitch and moan and cry about all the unborn six week old fetuses and how they all have a right to live. I wish the world was that black and white. I really, really do.

The fact is, a lot of people only care that these kids are born and then after that, well, that's not really their problem. After all THEY didn't choose to get knocked up while poor, and be on drugs or be beaten by their husband or raped by their father or neighbor.

Then the same people who cry about the unborn babies want to cut all the funding to programs that HELP children after they're you know, BORN. Like WIC and food stamps and public aid. Because the people who are on these programs are all lazy and don't want to work right? Except, guess who really suffers?

That's right. Again. The children.

Oh well. As long as they're born in the first place, that's ALL that matters!

Now, this isn't intended for everyone. I know there are a lot of pro-life people who actually DO things to help kids that aren't theirs. But a lot of people just want to bitch and complain and have their way and take the high moral ground without DOING anything to actually HELP the situation.

But that's okay. I'll still be here doing MY life's work, making a difference and TRYING to help make the world a better place for the kids who are already here. I'll be here to put out the fires and roll back the floods and clean up the messes irresponsible people make that no one else wants to help out with as they sit and moan about how truly awful THEIR lives are.

Supreme Court Rejects Death Penalty for Child Rape.

You know what I have to say to that?

What BULLSHIT.

"Still, Kennedy concluded that in cases of crimes against individuals — as opposed to treason, for example — "the death penalty should not be expanded to instances where the victim's life was not taken.""

So raping a child, or in MOST cases, MULTIPLE children, ruining their lives and destroying their ability to trust themselves or other people, and shattering their capability of EVER feeling TRULY safe is less of a crime than treason?

You know what, Supreme Court?

Go fuck yourselves.

So I log onto yahoo this morning and the first two things I see make my head want to asplode.

One: apparently there was a group of people trying to sell TIGERS in a WAL-MART PARKING LOT. WTF? Seriously?

Two: People protesting gay marriage in California. You know what? If you have nothing better to do than protest other people's happiness, you need MASSIVE DOSES OF THERAPY. MASSIVE.

And just because:

10 Reasons Gay Marriage Should be Illegal. )

So far I have managed to surive the zombie apocalypse, though they have now invaded Decatur. *runs screaming* Good thing I took today off!

Although, apparantly [livejournal.com profile] _fucking_moron is better off than most of us, because in the midst of said apocalypse, he/she/they/it added me to their LJ friend's list because I had apocalypse spelled incorrectly on my interests list.

ZOMG.

Forgive me. Incorrect spelling is the REAL END OF THE WORLD! EVERYONE BOW DOWN AND WORSHIP [livejournal.com profile] _fucking_moron FOR SHOWING ME AND MANY OTHER THE ERROR OF OUR WICKED MISSPELLING WAYS!

SAVE YOURSELVES FROM MY STUPIDITY!

RE: Economic Stimulus Checks, and notices about said checks.

"Here's the kicker. 34 million dollars is the cost of the letter that was sent by the US government to inform the people that their check WAS IN THE MAIL."

--Lewis Black

Seriously. How STUPID is this? Just send my damn check! I don't need two notices about when it's going to arrive! What a waste of time, money and natural resources! Ugh!

Bzuh?

Okay, so...what exactly is the drama about the LJ elections? Someone wanna explain it to me? Because all I know is that [livejournal.com profile] jameth and his supporters hate [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy (who won the election apparently), and they also hate fandom people or something? And people are FLIPPING out all over LJ about the whole thing.

What the hell?

This is probably one of those times where my anger is going to come out inappropriately but I don't care.

The whole cut tag thing? Yeah, for spoilers it's pretty much necessary, or if there are 100 pictures. But if you're posting ONE picture or your post is long and rambly do I think you need to cut it? Only if you feel like YOU need to do so. Because Jesus H Christ, is it really that difficult for people to SCROLL down a little more? It's PUSHING A BUTTON. No one is asking you to do ROCKET SCIENCE.

"It's clogging up my friend's list" blah blah. You know what? If you're too lazy to scroll down then what the hell are you doing using a computer in the first place? But whatever. Of all things in the world people choosing to bitch because someone doesn't cut tag every damn thing they post? That's pretty fucking petty if you ask me.

And BTW, I'm on dialup. Pictures take ages to load up for me but you STILL DON'T HEAR ME BEING BITCHY MCNASTY WITH PEOPLE for posting!!

*tears out hair*

ETA: This is not directed at anyone who has NICELY asked someone to put something behind a cut, but rather the WANKERS who go about it rudely and insult people in the process.
xtremeroswellia: (Um)
In case you have no idea what I'm talking about check this out.

Originally came upon it via [livejournal.com profile] tapati and a couple days later, I am still utterly mind-boggled. I'm still forming my thoughts but I do fully intend to respond to this. Cause really, wtf?

And let me just say, I'm a pretty damn open-minded person, but this just crosses the line in SO many ways I don't know where to start.

Eight Teens Charged in Videotaped Attack

I caught part of this on the Today show when I woke up this morning and I was horrified.

The victim lost sight in her left eye and hearing in her left ear the beating was so severe. What the hell is wrong with people?

Last night I dreamt I was fostering several small animals, including a hamster. I dreamt the hamster had several babies and they were tiny little things. I remember trying to find a decent sized cage for them and then there was a flood and I was just trying to keep them from all drowning!

And then the male hamster turned into Hawkins from Jericho and he was helping me hang up fandom posters. O.o And my friend Tim and my parents were trying to tell him what a big X-Files fan I was.
